Hi there, my beautiful weirdo!

Welcome back to my series, How To LinkedIn 101!

Lesson 2: how to get the confidence to post without puking.

First. I get it. When you’re new to this platform, hitting ‘publish’ can feel like you’re dropping yourself into a pit filled with hungry wolves and you're somehow covered in honey and bacon?!

But the thing is. There are no wolves. There is no sticky bacon-skin. It’s just your primal fear response being a silly goose.

So… how do you get over that and actually START?

I have 3 handy dandy tips. The last one is petty:

1. Engage in the comments first: Comments are a GOLDMINE for new and experienced posters alike. They allow you to practice fleshing out your thoughts, and seeing how the public responds to them. Then, when you have a comment that really hits, you can repurpose it into a post. No fear that it won’t resonate, because it already did!

2. Remember that the merriment is in the middle: You won’t find happiness once you’ve hit 50k followers and are swimming in business and brand deals. In fact, you might miss the scrappy days of growing your account and figuring out what works. Remember to ENJOY your posting right now. Because enjoyment = consistency.

3. Go look at some giant accounts: I’m talking 50 to 500k followers: Then see how many comments they actually get on their posts. They’ll usually be in the 5 to 50 range. This goes to show, so-called “popular” accounts often aren’t. You might be getting the same engagement as their community already! And by that logic, you’re already famous. You did it!!

What lesson should I offer next?

Love ya,

Jillian

Those are my chompers!

P.S. Are slide decks a big part of your professional life? Sigh. Me too. That’s why I use Gamma to immediately generate:

- Polished slide decks for pitches
- Sexy rate cards for my clients
- Delightful social media images
- Presentations on how to relax your butthole

AKA all the things that I would be ripping my hair out over.

Thanks to Gamma, I get to keep my hair.

If you don’t want to go bald, you should try it, too. (This is a referral link)
